The challenge
Supplements are a considered purchase. Buyers want to know what is in it, why it works, how to take it and how it compares — which means the store has to carry a lot of content.
The conflict is obvious: the content that convinces people is also the content that slows the page down, and a slow page loses the same people before they read any of it.
- Product education existed but was buried in walls of text nobody read.
- Video was the most persuasive asset and the heaviest thing on the page.
- Customers bought single tubs when stacks made more sense for them and for margin.
- Mobile load time was undermining paid traffic performance.
Our approach
We treated speed as a design constraint rather than a cleanup task at the end. Every content decision was made knowing what it would cost in load time.
Video was made shoppable and lazy — posters load instantly, the video itself only loads on interaction, and the product can be added to cart from inside the video block. The persuasion stays; the weight does not.
Product education was restructured from paragraphs into a layered format: the short answer first, then ingredient detail, dosage and comparison for people who want to go deeper. Most buyers never scroll that far, and they no longer have to.
On the commercial side we added a stack builder so buying two or three complementary products is easier and cheaper than buying them separately.
What we built
Shoppable video blocks
Poster-first loading with add-to-cart inside the video — persuasion without the payload.
Layered product education
Short answer first, then ingredients, dosage and comparison for deeper research.
Stack & bundle builder
Complementary products bundled at a clear saving, lifting average order value.
Aggressive speed work
Script control, image pipeline, font strategy and layout-shift fixes throughout.
Trust architecture
Certifications, lab detail and reviews positioned exactly where doubt appears.
Technical SEO
Product schema, clean headings, fast Core Web Vitals across template types.
The outcome
The store reaches a 0.9-second LCP on mobile while still carrying video on key product pages — which is the part most media-heavy supplement stores get wrong.
Add-to-cart rate rose about 33%, and the stack builder lifted average order value by roughly 28% because buying the logical combination became the easy option rather than the effort.
“We were told we had to choose between a store that explains the product properly and a store that loads fast. Turns out that was a false choice.”
