The challenge
Handcrafted textiles are sold on detail and colour accuracy. Both are easy to lose online.
- Images were too small to show weave, embroidery or texture.
- Colours looked different on screen than in hand, driving returns.
- The craft process — the actual reason for the price — was not part of the buying path.
- No styling guidance, so buyers were unsure what a piece would pair with.
Our approach
We made the product page photography-led: large galleries, deep zoom on weave and embroidery, drape shots, and a scale reference so buyers understand real size and fall.
Colour accuracy was handled honestly — consistent photography plus a plain note on how screens vary, which reduces both returns and disappointment.
The craft story moved into the buying path: how the piece is made, the time it takes, the material, and care instructions — right beside the price, where the value question is being asked.
We also added styling suggestions so a dupatta is presented as part of a look rather than an isolated item.

The outcome
Conversion improved about 42% — the largest single factor being image quality and zoom, because that is what justifies a premium price on handwork.
Average order value rose roughly 26% through styling suggestions, and colour-related returns fell about 30%.
“Once customers could actually see the embroidery up close, we stopped having to explain the price.”
